On July 21, 2023, the Santa Ana Police Department arrested Luis Anthony Vega (31) of Santa Ana on charges related to an ongoing criminal investigation. During the investigation, a search of Vega’s cellular phone yielded evidence of child pornography and an inappropriate relationship with a minor child.

Based on multijurisdictional concerns, the content located on the cellular phone was referred to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

On November 6, 2023, a federal warrant was issued for the arrest of Vega for the following violations:

– 18 USC, 2252A(a)(2), (b)(1)- Distribution and/or receipt of child pornography
– 18 USC, 2252A(a)(5)(B)- Possession of child pornography
– 18 USC, 2251(a)- Production of child pornography
– 18 USC, 2422(b)- Coercion and enticement

On November 7, 2023, the FBI arrested Vega pursuant to his arrest warrant.

On November 21, 2023, a federal grand jury indicted Vega on the aforementioned charges. He will be held in custody pending trial.

The Santa Ana Police Department believes that Vega may have solicited sexual images and/or videos from additional victims.
