Update – the lockdown is over. The Garden Grove Police arrested the suspect at a nearby Home Depot.

St. Columban School was established and staffed in 1956 by the Religious Sisters of Charity, a religious order originating in Ireland and founded by Venerable Mary Aikenhead. The school began with grades 1-5 in 1956, then added an additional class each year culminating in grade 8. Kindergarten was added in 1976. In 2010, a Montessori preschool was opened, and in 2012 a Transitional Kindergarten class was added.
