It looks like Santa Ana Council Member Michele Martinez won’t be advancing in the race to replace Jose Solorio in the 69th Assembly District.  So far the top two in that race are Tom Daly, a Democrat, and Jose Moreno, a Republican.  Martinez is in fourth and the candidate that Orange County labor backed, Julio Perez, is in third. If you are not in the top two, it is game over!

Had labor backed Martinez she might well have made the top two.  Instead Democrats are now stuck with Daly, who has a distinctly anti-Latino record as the former Mayor of /Anaheim.  Moreno also is from Anaheim, which means that Santa Ana no longer has a horse in this race, thanks to labor and Perez, not to mention that other foolish Democrat, Francisco Barragan, who hardly got any votes at all.

I will be backing Moreno in November.  We have several months to let Daly have it.  He has a terrible record of wasting taxpayer resources, as the Orange County Clerk-Recorder.  We will be bringing all of that out for sure.

It is a shame that Martinez did not go for Daly’s jugular during this campaign.  She had enough money to put out a lot of mail but none of it was hard-hitting.  Daly got a free pass from the other candidates too, and Perez stupidly attacked Martinez instead of going after Daly.

Martinez has two more years to go on the Santa Ana City Council.  I think she is not very happy that Solorio backed Daly as well as backing her.  And while she had the support of Mayor Miguel Pulido, it was tepid at best.  Will she challenge Pulido for Mayor again?  That could happen.  I know she is very frustrated right now.

Perez is now the new Phu Nguyen – another Democrat who carpetbagged and got his rear kicked.  The labor stooges that backed Perez should all be fired, starting with OCEA boss Nick Berardino.  They wasted their members’ dues for nothing.  Fools.

  1. I’m really disappointed Art! That seat should belong to Michele right now. I can’t believe it. Michele should be made Mayor Pro Tem and take her rightful place on the Orange County Water Board. She was willing to run and spend time and her own resources and now the Council owes it to her to allow her to get some of that money back by being on the water board which pays over $2,000 per month.

    Also, I’m really worried about the County Board of Education! This fellow Hammond won and so did Williams! That’s a sharp turn to the RIGHT! Thank you for your report Art. Your blog rocks.

  2. Face it art people are wise to martinez she’s a terrible councilwoman and like claudia alvarez isn’t going any further than the sa city council so please quit whining. Also I aee you didn’t do so well either who are you gonna blame for that big labor? Dude, Steve rocco got 2 thousand more votes than you what does that tell you? At least you aren’t as pathetic as creer de poder and think martinez should be on the water board so she can pocket 2k a month.

    1. Apparently basic math is not your strong suit. Four of us ran for Area One on the OC Board of Education. With three minorities on the ballot, and only one Republican, you can see why Hammond prevailed, but I did very well for having spent no money. I can only imagine what the other candidates spent.

      Rocco was Nguyen’s only challenger because your party gave Nguyen a free pass. I am told that labor had a lot to do with that bad decision.

      As for Martínez, if Pérez is not in the race, she makes they top two.

      Labor spent a fortune on Pérez and Elizondo also blew some of their money. They are done today but Martínez is still an elected official.

  3. My party gave the commuist janet nguyen a pass?! What political party do you think I belong to pedroza? And you didn’t do well in your race you lost My math is correct. As far as martinez goes she needs to concentrate on staying a councilwoman that’s as far as she’s gonna go. She serves the tiny dark lord well and so do you.

  4. Why would I ask elizondo anything? I could care less. Main thing is martinez is not moving on to do more destruction outside of santa ana. She needs to be contained within the city limits of santa ana. And you pedroza need to stop running for office quit embarrassing yourself. Do what you do best: serve the tiny dark lord and his friends.

      Do you have a problem with Pulido’s color? Your catchphrase has a racist bent to it.

      Pulido will be backing Daly. I will be backing Moreno.

  5. Hi Art, Thanks for keeping it real on this site. Thanks also by the way for using real photos…not that clip art that has become so popular on Red County and other sites. As for Michele, she can come back and run for Mayor or Assembly in two years. Her name I.D. is building. She ran unopposed the last time and while it makes getting elected easier, it does not help building I.D. Mr. Jose says she should not be on the Water Board but why shouldn’t she get to also represent our city on a regional board? I say water board because it pays the most but I would be ok with Sanitary District or Toll Road or OCTA. It is also her turn to be Vice Mayor or Mayor Pro Tem as we say in Santa Ana. I believe had Daly been willing to debate Martinez would have cleaned his clock! Her oratory skills are superior and her love of our community is unmatched. She is one of those people (not unlike President Clinton) who, when she speaks, connects with people. I have seen people actually weep when she gave her story of growing up and finding herself through politics. Our people are fortunate to have her and you have been a good supporter Art, even when it was not popular. I say to Michele, never give up! Today may not be your time but your time will come. You go girl! Art, I hope you will break down the various races and let us know how you feel about each one. I read your blog each day and almost never check the others. I do read Liberal O.C. and Voice of O.C. to get another perspective but Red County is pretty weak now I think. Peace out!

  6. No there’s nothing wrong with serving the public unless you’re a person who doesn’t “serve” the public like our mayor and city council who don’t. And it’s so typical of you to try anc call me a racist by calling pulido the tiny dark lord. Just like when I used to call the communist janet nguyen “the wicked witch of little saigon” you accused me of having a problem with Vietnamese people. You now bash janet all the time does that mean you have a problem with Vietnamese people? And creer es pendejo, I weep when Martinez speaks too, I weep for the future of my city.

      Martinez is Santa Ana. And our city will be just fine. If you want to beat these council members you won’t do it with whacked out liberals. Figure that out and you might get somewhere.

  7. Art, Please don’t listen to voices like jose s. They do not speak for our people. I admire you for running for office. Never give up. When the timing is right, with the right candidate mix, you will win and will do a great job serving our community. It’s interesting that people who do not like you still read your blogs and support your work here. Your blog has become a must read along with the Drudgereport, Huffington Post, and Flash Report. Most political people keep those three at the top of the favorites list. Why? Because you tell it like it is Art. You don’t pull punches and you are not afraid to do what is right even when it is not popular. Other blogers come and go but you my friend just keep doing what you do best, hold our elected leaders feet to the fire. Keep it up brother!

    Can you imaginge the odacity of this guy, after he tries to buy an election and comes up short! What a moron.

    Julio Perez is a pocket canidate, they’ll try and find some other seat to buy so they have their “man” in there.

    Lost on organized labor and our out of district friends on the other blogs was this:

    JULIO WAS A BAD CANIDATE. Simply put people didn’t really like him. One article had him failing miserably in Floral Park, his supposed home neighborhood, what does that tell you.

    Labor made a bet on a bad horse, the completely underestimated the electorate. It will be interesting to see who gets behind Moreno.

    As long as she will be surrounding her self with wrong people she will never progress.

    After the final candidate list was in and it contained a single republican and strong democrat she made strategic mistake not to concentrate on the republican to defeat leave Daly for the November.

    That would also take care of Perez.

    I have warn her about it but “you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink”.

    Unless she will mature she has no place in the politic.
