A very vocal extreme minority is trying to make the case that the U.S. government should not be deporting violent criminals but a new poll by the AP shows that this is a lie.

The vast majority of U.S. adults favor deporting immigrants living in the United States illegally who have been convicted of a violent crime including 65% who strongly favor the policy and 18% who somewhat favor it.

There is also broad support among people across the political spectrum with majorities of  Democrats (79%) and Republicans (89%) in support.

Three DUIs Get him out of here

In addition, 7 in 10 favor deporting immigrants living in the United States legally who have been convicted of a violent crime. Fifty-two percent strongly favor such a policy while 17% somewhat favor it. Republicans are more likely than Democrats to strongly favor deporting immigrants living in the United States legally in such cases (69% vs. 40%).

Fifty percent of Americans also think that increasing security at the U.S. southern border ought to be a high priority for the government. Only 17% feel this should be a low priority.

However, opinions are more divided on addressing immigrants already living in the country illegally. Only 33% view deportation as a high priority for the government, while 36% see it as a moderate priority, and 29% consider it a low priority.

Nearly two-thirds of Americans oppose separating children from detained parents entering illegally and 55% oppose deporting immigrants living in the country illegally if it results in separating them from their children who are citizens.

The Trump administration should clearly focus only on removing undocumented residents who are criminals. They should also be more careful about how they go about doing this as more than half of the public oppose policies for arresting residents who are in the country illegally while they are at school or arresting the undocumented while they are at church. About half also oppose making arrests in a hospital.

The nationwide poll was conducted January 9-13, 2025 using the AmeriSpeak® Panel, the probability-based panel of NORC at the University of Chicago. Online and telephone interviews using landlines and cell phones were conducted with 1,147 adults. The overall margin of sampling error is +/- 3.9 percentage points.

California residents in particular are sick and tired of all the crime in this state. Over 70% of California voters voted for Prop. 36 last November, which has already resulted in over 500 arrests here in Orange County since. Jan. 1, according to the OC Sheriff.

Over 74% of Orange County voters also supported Prop. 36.

Democrats lost serious ground with both working-class voters and nonwhite voters in the November election. Why? Because we are all sick of crime and the Democrats have become, particularly in California, the party that caters to the criminals.

The criminals Trump is deporting have more likely been committing more crimes in the U.S. against their very own people. That is fairly typical. That is why the blue party lost so many nonwhite voters.

I am no fan of Trump and voted Libertarian last November as I usually do in Presidential elections. But I am very happy to see so many criminals getting booted out of the United States. I am sad for the innocent folks who are being caught up in this but many of them are learning the hard way that harboring criminals is now a very bad idea.

One has to wonder if Santa Ana will be able to continue to be a Sanctuary City when Trump inevitably cuts off all Federal grants to our city. As the County Seat in Orange County Santa Ana merits a lot of money from the Feds. Our city is already teetering towards bankruptcy. If Trump pulls all Federal funds that will be the end for Santa Ana.

  1. Your choice to lie about democrats and continue the uneducated division in our country is shameful.
    You wrote;

This is a complete lie. Your Weird to even think this.
Considering Trump was convicted by a jury of his peers of 34 felonies of fraud and found guilty of sexual assault, I find your opinion to be horrifically ironic and completely false.
    Where do you get off?

Trump is a career criminal. From sexual assaults, Jeffery Epsteins’ best friend and partner! Let’s not forget the crazy lunatics Trump just freed with pardoning 1,500 violent, dangerous criminals; who are legally born here but committed treason against the USA and deserve to be hanged.

“On his first day in office, President Donald Trump granted clemency to every person charged or convicted for their role in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, even those convicted of violently assaulting police officers.

But Trump’s pardons and commutations for people he has called “patriots” did not wipe away certain defendants’ extensive criminal records or any other criminal charges they may be facing.

While many people had no criminal record prior to committing crimes on Jan. 6, NPR has identified dozens of defendants with prior convictions or pending charges for crimes including rape, sexual abuse of a minor, domestic violence, manslaughter, production of child sexual abuse material and drug trafficking ”

Also, your opinion about the mass deportations and border security, also weakens your credibility.; Trump doesn’t care about borders or the security of America.

“Donald Trump is able to go to the U.S. border with Mexico and rail about a crisis because he made sure there was a crisis to rail about.”

Earlier this year, Republicans in the U.S. Senate bowed to Trump’s demands and killed a bipartisan security bill introduced by Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, Republican Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma and Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy of Connecticut.
The top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, Jerry Nadler of New York, said the bill was a “foolhardy attempt to pass for a second time one of the most draconian immigration bills this Congress has ever seen. This rehashing of H.R. 2 is a joke.”

“Republicans have proven that they want the issue more than they want solutions,” he said. “So here we are, again, taking a virtually same draconian bill as before, knowing that if it actually passes the House it will surely go nowhere in the Senate.”

Nadler argued if Republicans were serious about addressing immigration at the southern border, they would have supported the bipartisan border bill in the Senate, instead of rejecting it.

Three senators – Oklahoma Republican James Lankford, Connecticut Democrat Chris Murphy and Arizona independent Kyrsten Sinema – spent months crafting a bill that would overhaul immigration policy at the request of Senate Republicans who insisted border security provisions should be included in the foreign aid package.

But congressional Republicans walked away from it early this year at the urging of GOP presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump, who was not supportive of the bill because he is centering his reelection campaign on immigration.

So, before you spew your thoughts about any party, group or gang you should do some research about them.
Track records tell the true story and your comments were uneducated and untrue.
