Advisory: UPDATE – DETECTIVES MAKE ARREST IN SPRINT STORE BURGLARY SERIES, STILL LOOKING FOR ONE SUSPECT.

UPDATE: Arrested: Robert Andrew Austin – (23) Santa Ana

On February, 14th, 2017, SAPD Detectives requested media and the public’s assistance; Detectives released video and photographs of the two suspects wanted in connection to a series of commercial burglaries. Based on the information provided and the media stories completed, the detectives received tip information identifying suspect number one as Robert Andrew Austin (23).

Detectives shared this information with our patrol officers; On March 6th, 2017, members of the department’s Civic Center Detail located and arrested suspect Austin.

Sprint Store Burglary Suspect

Austin was interviewed by Burglary Detectives, based on the information obtained in the interview and evidence collected from the series of commercial burglaries, Austin was booked into the SAPD Jail for multiple counts of Burglary. Detectives continue to investigate these burglaries and continue to look for information as to the identity of suspect #2. He is described as Male White or Hispanic, 18-25 years old, medium build, wearing red beanie, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and black shoes. He was last seen riding a dark colored beach cruiser bicycle. Anyone with information on the identity of suspect #2 is asked to contact Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS.

Location(s): 3600 block South Bristol Street Santa Ana, CA – SPRINT Store

Suspect(s):

  • Suspect 1– Male Black, 18-25 years old, 5-10 to 6-00 , 160 to 175 lbs., seen carrying a skateboard.
  • Suspect 2 – Male White or Hispanic, 18-25 years old, medium build, wearing red beanie, black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black shoes. Seen riding a dark colored beach cruiser bicycle.

Synopsis:

The Sprint store located in the 3600 block of South Bristol Street has been the victim of five separate commercial burglaries. The first burglary in this series occurred on November 24th, 2016, and the fifth this morning February 14th, 2017. Each of these crimes was captured on the business’ video surveillance system and occurred between the hours of 4:00 and 6:00 a.m. In each of the cases it appears one or both of the suspects participated in the burglary.
