Irvine Councilman Jeff Lalloway announced today that the Irvine City Council will be proclaiming Feb. 6 as “Ronald Reagan Day.”

Santa Ana, incidentally, is the home of the Ronald Reagan Federal Courthouse.

Reagan was once a Democrat. He raised taxes and legalized abortion when he was the Governor of California.  As President he tilted to the right and is most famed for helping to bring down the Berlin Wall and for standing up to the U.S.S.R.  He later got selling arms to Iran, illegally, so the money could be used to fund the Contras, in Nicaragua, against the wishes of the U.S. Congress.  Reagan also is the only U.S. President to have signed an amnesty for undocumented immigrants.

Here is Lalloway’s announcement:

Please join me this Tuesday, February 22nd at 5pm for a meeting of the Irvine City Council, where we will proclaim February 6th as “Ronald Reagan Day” in the City of Irvine in honor of his 100th Birthday.

Like all of you, Ronald Reagan remains a source of inspiration to me, personally, professionally, and in my public life. (So much so that I named my first child after him). Reagan’s optimism about our country in the face of grave threats, and his commitment to liberty loving values that founded this nation, should be an inspiration to everyone.

So please join me, and the rest of the Irvine City Council, on Tuesday night to honor one of our nation’s greatest Presidents.

Hope to see you there!

Jeff

    1. WTF,

Perhaps you missed our graphic and our mention of the Reagan courthouse, which is situated in Santa Ana. Moreover, this is an event and we often write about events around Santa Ana. Perhaps some of our Republican residents might want to attend this meeting, at our neighboring city of Irvine.

  1. President RONALD REAGAN was as much a soldier fighting for the freedom of others on the front line during the cold war, as we soldiers who were standing there. I was in the 1st major battle for freedom of the Vietnam War, a battle in a Valley of Death accurately depicted in the sterling RANDALL WALLACE motion picture “WE WERE SOLDIERS.” Honoring our fallen, RANDALL’s stirring hymn ‘MANSIONS OF THE LORD” ends our film story depicting how fallen soldiers are now standing guard over Angels as the sleep in Heaven.

‘MANSIONS of the LORD’ was also sung by the Armed Forces Choir as REAGAN’s flag draped casket was being carried out of his Washington, D.C. Funeral for final flight back to his Presidential Library resting place. This Hymn struck the hearts of the American Public so deeply on TV that it became also known as ‘The REAGAN RECESSIONAL’ ..forever.

Tour Guests at the REAGAN Presidential Libary soon began to hear it being stirringly sung again, as they were leaving their Library tour.

How very fiting for a man who so selflessly brought FREEDOM to ..millions?

Just for the LOVE of FREEDOM:

‘MANSIONS of the LORD’ – Lyrics

To fallen soldiers let us sing,

Where no rockets fly nor bullets wing,

Our broken brothers let us bring

To the Mansions of the Lord.

No more bleeding, no more fight,

No prayers pleading through the night,

    Just divine embrace, eternal light

In the Mansions of the Lord.

Where no mothers cry and no children weep,

We will stand and guard though the angels sleep,

All through the ages safely keep

    The Mansions of the Lord.

  2. Thank You Ronnie. However, it is not physically possible to “selflessly Bring freedom to Millions”. Freedom is aspired towards to appease one’s selfish will. Once it is achieved, the self usually runs back into the arms of bondage, thus American Consumer Slavery.
America, Where you are free to be a slave!
Probably, only a supreme Buddhist monk knows how to conquer the paradox of Freedom, or a true non-violent communist such as Jesus Christ.
