Terry Lyn Myers

Terry Lyn Myers of Garden Grove, a 67-year-old man, was sentenced last Friday to 98 years to life in prison for molesting a boy from 1997 through 2001, in the Stanton area.

Myers was convicted in February of this year on five felony counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and three counts of lewd or lascivious acts on a minor.

Myers began molesting the boy when he was about 9 years old, according to the prosecutors.

Myers volunteered at various Orange County churches. He once sexually assaulted the victim “in exchange for a trip to a church camp,” according to the prosecutors.

The little boy was sexually assaulted from the ages 8 through 12, according to the prosecutors. At times Myers also forced the victim to watch pornography, starting at about 8 or 9 years of age.

The prosecutors asserted that the victim “was looking for safety and security, he had no one to care for him or protect him. The defendant knew this and applied physical, psychological and emotional force to repeatedly sexually assault (him).”

On Wednesday, March 2, 2022, members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Special Victims Detail arrested Myers, of Garden Grove, for felony aggravated sexual assault.

Myers had been a volunteer at multiple churches in Orange County. He was a volunteer at Grace Community Church, formerly known as Nutwood Church, in Garden Grove from 1995-2013. Since 2013, Myers had been volunteering at MidCities Baptist Church in Westminster.
