Between March and October of this year, the Fountain Valley Police Department responded to approximately 7 incidents of package thefts throughout the city. During these thefts, the suspect would steal a package from a victim’s doorstep, and often replace the stolen package with an empty box.

The suspect was later identified as Dung Van, a resident of Garden Grove. The Fountain Valley police detectives quickly learned that Mr. Van was also suspected of similar thefts in Westminster, Garden Grove, and Anaheim. Some of these thefts were captured on home surveillance systems.

So far, Mr. Van has been linked to 12 open theft cases. On 11/2/23, detectives contacted Mr. Van in Anaheim and arrested him for grand theft.

As the holiday season quickly approaches, the Fountain Valley Police Department would like to remind our residents to remain alert for potential “porch pirates” and as always, if you see something, say something.
