Final Week of the 2012 OC Fair Features The All-American Rejects, Five Demolition Derbies and Free Admission With Donation of School Supplies

Costa Mesa, Calif. (August 6, 2012) – The  2012 OC Fair is going out with a bang as it approaches its final week for the season with a series of demolition derbies, including the all-new, female-only, Damsels of Destruction Demolition Derby on Friday, August 10. The Fair will continue to feature the Budweiser Clydesdales and the Oasis Camel Dairy, as well as an all-star lineup in the Pacific Amphitheatre. The Fair is open Wednesday-Sunday and closed on Monday and Tuesday.

Here are just some of the events during the last days of the 2012 OC Fair (August 8-12):

Wednesday, August 8 (Open Noon-Midnight)

  • The All-American Rejects in the Pacific Amphitheatre (7:30 p.m.)
  • Moonwalker – The Reflection of Michael Jackson in The Hangar (8:30 p.m.)
  • Orange Crush Demolition Derby in the Action Sports Arena (8 p.m.)
  • We Care Wednesday School Supply Drive – Free admission and one carnival ride with donation of $5 worth of new school supplies per person (Donations accepted Noon-4 p.m.)
  • $30 Unlimited Rides & 2 Free Games (Sold until 5 p.m. and valid until 8 p.m.)

Thursday, August 9 (Open Noon-Midnight)

  • Heart in the Pacific Amphitheatre (8:15 p.m.)
  • Night Fever – The Bee Gees Tribute in The Hangar (8:30 p.m.)
  • Motor Home Madness Demolition Derby in the Action Sports Arena (8 p.m.)
  • Kids Day – Children 12 and younger are free all day.
  • $30 Unlimited Rides & 2 Free Games (Sold until 5 p.m. and valid until 8 p.m.)
  • Food Truck Fare: Grub on gourmet food truck fare from Noon-10 p.m. inside the Fair. Access is free with Fair admission. Food prices vary per truck.
  • OC Fair Chowdown: Professional Chef Jason Quinn vs. Home Cook Dave Lieberman on the Exhibit Promenade Stage (5 p.m.)

Friday, August 10 (Open Noon-Midnight)

  • Martina McBride in the Pacific Amphitheatre (8:15 p.m.)
  • Strangelove –The Ultimate Tribute to Depeche Mode in The Hangar (8:30 p.m.)
  • Damsels of Destruction Demolition Derby in the Action Sports Arena (8 p.m.)
  • Seniors Day – $6 admission for guests 60 and older plus free regular Ferris wheel and merry-go-round rides all day
  • $2 Taste of Fair Food – Sample Fair favorites for $2 per sample (Noon-4 p.m.)
  • $2 Rides & Games (Until 4 p.m.)

Saturday, August 11 (Open 10 a.m.-Midnight)

  • Dead Man’s Party – The Oingo Boingo Tribute in The Hangar (8:30 p.m.)
  • Orange Crush Demolition Derby in the Action Sports Arena (8 p.m.)
  • Rise & Shine – $2 admission (10 a.m.-11 a.m.)
  • Free Parking & Shuttle Service from the Experian parking structure located off the Bristol St. exit of the northbound I-405 and the Avenue of the Arts exit of the southbound I-405. Hours of operation: 10 a.m.-Midnight.
  • OC Fair Express – Receive a coupon for $2 Fair admission for that day when using special route directly from 7 different OCTA transit locations. $1.50 for one-way and $3 for round-trip. Visitocta.com/ocfairexpress for transit locations and times.
  • Culinary Arts Taste of Home Competition – Judged live at the Fair in the Exhibit Promenade, Fairgoers will see who has the most mouthwatering home-grown recipe (Judging at 1 p.m. Contest registration ends Wednesday, August 8.)

Sunday, August 12 (Open 10 a.m.-Midnight)

  • “Weird Al” Yankovic in the Pacific Amphitheatre (8 p.m.)
  • Mariachi Sol De Mexico De Jose Hernandez in The Hangar (6 p.m.)
  • Motor Home Madness Demolition Derby in the Action Sports Arena (7 p.m.)
  • Rise & Shine – $2 admission (10 a.m.-11 a.m.)
  • Free Parking & Shuttle Service from the Experian parking structure located off the Bristol St. exit of the northbound I-405 and the Avenue of the Arts exit of the southbound I-405. Hours of operation: 10 a.m.-Midnight

The 2012 OC Fair, themed Home Sweet Home, is July 13 – August 12 brings 23 days of food, rides, exhibits, animals, music, action sports and fun, as well as the Super Pass, Toyota Summer Concert Series at the Pacific Amphitheatre, The Hangar and Action Sports Arena. The Fair is open Wednesday-Sunday. Concert tickets, action sports reserved seats and single-day general admission are available for purchase online atticketmaster.com or from the on-site Box Office. The popular Super Pass, which offers the passholder 23 days of admission, is available for purchase from any onsite box office or ticket booth through Friday, August 10.
