A motorcyclist has died after being involved in a traffic collision near E. Chapman and S. Yorba., according to the Orange Police Department.
Today, at 1:48 p.m., the Orange Police Department responded to reports of a traffic collision in the 2700 block of E. Chapman Avenue.
A Hyundai Tucson traveling west on Chapman Avenue turned south into a parking lot. A motorcyclist and a passenger traveling east collided into the SUV. Reportedly the Hyundai collided with the motorcycle, as the motorcycle was going straight east and had the right of way, and the Hyundai driver made a left turn into the parking lot across traffic.
Orange City Fire personnel pronounced one of the occupants from the motorcycle deceased at the scene and the other occupant was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
At this time, it is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a contributing factor for the collision. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene.
The Traffic Unit responded and assumed the investigation. All eastbound lanes of traffic on Chapman Avenue will be closed from Yorba to Malena Street for approximately five hours while investigators processed the scene.
Anyone with information can contact Det. Rocha at 714-744-7342.
It would probably be prudent to edit the article to say the Hyundai collided with the motorcycle, as the motorcycle was going straight east and had the right of way, and the Hyundai driver made a left turn into a parking lot across traffic.
Thanks for the details!
