Vanessa Elizabeth Rodriguez, a 25-year-old woman, was killed late Wednesday night in a gang-related shooting inside a residential garage behind a Catholic church the west alley of the 700 block of North Lacy Street, according to the O.C. Register.

The SAPD said that two suspects entered an alley, pulled open a garage door and began shooting at the three people inside, hitting all of them, according to ABC News.

The victim was shot inside a single-car garage that had been converted into a living space , at around 11:30 p.m.

Rodriguez died after being taken to Orange County Global Medical Center in Santa Ana.

The other two victims, both men, survived but refused to cooperate with the SAPD, which is considering the shooting to be gang-related.

The attack happened less than two hours after an unidentified 19-year-old man was injured in a gang-related drive-by shooting at the 1200 block of Highland Street.

The SAPD does not consider the shootings to be related as they happened in different neighborhoods and involved different gangs.

The SAPD is asking that anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call the Orange County Crime Stoppers at 1-855-TIP-OCCS. Tips can be left anonymously.

This latest shooting happened in Santa Ana’s Ward 2, a few blocks north of the DTSA’s East End, which is represented by Councilwoman Michele Martinez. She is currently running for the First Supervisorial District in the upcoming June Primary Election.

  1. Sucks. Santa Ana is becoming 1993 allover again.

Unfortunately most of the elected officials don’t understand.

  2. Opened the garage! Pretty brazen. Must have had a lot of confidence. Where does that come from in 2016. I can see in the late 80s and 90s with no DNA or other technologies we have today. But really they just opened the garage and said hello… Wow this is out of control!!
