Jordan Brandman has won a seat on the Anaheim City Council and now his colleagues on the Anaheim Union High School District’s Board of Education must decide whether to appoint someone to replace him or to hold a Special Election to fill his seat.

The last time the AUHSD School Board replaced a Trustee was this year when Trustee Jan Harp-Domene passed away suddenly earlier this year.  The Board replaced her with Annmarie Randle-Trejo who went on to win a permanent place on the AUHSD School Board in this year’s general election, according to Smart Voter.

Another past Trustee, Denise Mansfield-Ranking, passed away in 2007.  She was replaced when the AUHSD School Board appointed former Trustee Harald Martin to replace her.  But that was an epic backfire as the community rebelled against the appointment of the divisive overtly anti-Latino Martin.  The seat was then made available in a 2008 Special Election that was won by Brandman, according to Smart Voter.

I felt back in 2007, that Brandman should have been appointed to replace Mansfield-Ranking as he was the runner-up in the 2006 AUHSD School Board election, according to Smart Voter.  Instead the Board went with Martin – which was a total bust.
