On Saturday, November 16th, 2013 at 1:48 am, patrol officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of McFadden Avenue and Mohawk Drive. The officers located one vehicle that had three trapped/injured occupants and requested the assistance of OCFA and Medics. The vehicles involved were a ’89 silver Nissan Sentra and a ’06 black Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck. A 32-year-old man was cut out of a small car after driving into a power pole on West First Street and Kenton Drive, in Santa Ana, on Thursday night at about 7:30 pm, authorities said, according to the O.C. Register.
The man was taken to a trauma center at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana with a broken arm and various cuts and scrapes. The Santa Ana Police suspect that alcohol or drug use may have caused the crash, according to Santa Ana police Cmdr. Eric Paulson. Continue reading

SANTA ANA – A man is scheduled to be arraigned today for fleeing the scene of an accident which led to the death of his girlfriend on Halloween night and endangering a 13-month-old girl. Francisco Javier Montano, 21, Irvine, is charged with one felony count of hit and run with permanent injury or death, one felony count of child abuse and endangerment, and one misdemeanor count of driving without a valid license. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of seven years in state prison and six months in jail. He is being held on $200,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in Department CJ-1, Central Jail, Santa Ana. The time is to be determined.
At approximately 8:00 p.m. on Oct 31, 2013, Montano is accused of driving a Toyota RAV4 eastbound near 1600 West Edinger Avenue in Santa Ana with his 21-year-old girlfriend Gloria Sanchez and 13-month-old Jane Doe. Continue reading
On Friday, 10/11/13, Petra Perez Jimenez – sixty-eight year old female (Santa Ana ) was struck by a vehicle while pushing a shopping cart through the intersection of Grant Street and Standard Avenue.
The female was transported to Western Medical Center for treatment. The motorist who was driving a Toyota Camry northbound Standard, subsequently struck the pedestrian at the intersection of Grant Street remained at the scene.
There has been a faatal traffic collision with one dead at the scene and four others injured and being transferred to Western Medical Center.
There is a Sig Alert at 1st Street, which is closed at Fairview on the west side and Sullivan on the east. Continue reading
Motorcyclist: Francisco Rincon (19) Fountain Valley
On August 22, 2013 at 9:55 am, a Ford F150 Pickup was making a U-turn from eastbound 1st Street to westbound at Olive Street. A Yamaha R6 motorcycle driven by Francisco Rincon was westbound on 1st Street. The Ford driver saw the motorcycle accelerating toward the intersection. The Ford driver stopped in the #2 westbound lane. The Motorcyclist (Rincon) attempted to brake, lost control and struck the pickup. Continue reading

My wife and I drove the kids to New Mexico this summer for our annual family vacation. We visited the Carlsbad Caverns and stopped in Tucson and Tombstone along the way and on the way back. It was a very long drive and along the way we passed a semi truck that flipped on its side. I thought of this as I read about the tragic accident that took the life of a Santa Ana mother and father, Martin Saldana, 50, and Adela Santana, 46, on Saturday, August 10, 2013. Tragedy struck tonight, at approximately 6:22 pm, when a 3-year old was struck by a car, in Santa Ana. He died later in a local hospital.
According to the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD) a family was crossing 5th Street at Bewely and was reportedly holding the hand of their 3 year-old. A passing vehicle struck the 3 year-old and fled the scene.
Witnesses were able to provide a vehicle description and license plate. Santa Ana police officers located the suspect vehicle and suspect at 1300 N. Clinton. The suspect was taken into custody and it appears DUI is possibly a factor. Continue reading
