(Santa Ana) – The County of Orange Health Care Agency (HCA) has issued the 2016 Award of Excellence to 3,630 Orange County food facilities to recognize local businesses for their outstanding food safety and sanitation practices during 2015.
The annual Award of Excellence was created to provide an incentive for retail food businesses that consistently meet or exceed health and safety standards for food facility operations. In 1999, the first year of the program, 584 food establishments received the recognition. Annual Bishop Manor Intergenerational Health Fair to Provide Services, Medical Advice to Central Santa Ana Families
SANTA ANA, Calif. – Families in the Bishop Manor neighborhoods of Central Santa Ana will have the opportunity to take advantage of complimentary health screenings and medical guidance on Saturday, March 19 from 10 a.m. to noon as part of a free Intergenerational Health Fair.
The fourth annual fair is hosted by The Bishop Manor task force, in coalition with community development organizations, including KidWorks, The Cambodian Family, The Office of State Senator Janet Nguyen, The Office of County Supervisor Andrew Do, The City of Santa Ana, and the Santa Ana Police Department. SANTA ANA, Calif. – The nation’s largest multinational confectionery, food, and beverage conglomerate, Mondelēz International, Inc., formerly Kraft Foods, will pay more than $758,000 in a consumer protection settlement for illegally selling ginger snap cookies in excess of California lead limits without a warning. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office (OCDA), in conjunction with nine other California District Attorney’s Offices, the California Attorney General’s Office, and the non-profit Center for Environmental Health (CEH), reached a settlement in a suit filed simultaneously with a consent judgment yesterday, Jan. 21, 2016, in Orange County Superior Court, which is pending approval from an Orange County Superior Court judge. Mondelēz will pay a total of $758,250 in civil penalties, costs, and attorneys’ fees in the proposed settlement. Continue reading
