Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez (D-Anaheim) is launching her re-election campaign for the 46th Congressional District this Saturday.  And this time there are four men trying to take her out.

Chances are none of them will prevail but one of them will at least advance to the November General Election as the June Election is a Top Two Open Primary.

So who will be the top guy?  Let’s have a look at the candidates:

  • Carlos Vasquez “graduated with honors and received a master’s degree in counseling and behavioral psychology.  He is completing his dissertation on the subject of religion’s influence on investment decision making and will receive my doctorate in the summer of 2014. He is currently a financial advisor, specializing in behavioral finance.” He is a Republican.  http://www.carlosforcongress.com/
John Cullum and Dana Rohrabacher

  • John Cullum has ” extensive experience in the Energy and Banking industries. He understands the strategic and financial requirements of moving forward and getting results. He is a Leader; He is a graduate of the Advanced Leadership Institute at Harvard Business School,” according to his Facebook Page. He is a Republican. http://www.vote4cullum.com/

Ehab Atalla

  • Ehab Atalla ” is a self-made multi-millionaire who established 34 businesses in 15 different industries,” according to his Facebook page.  He appears to be a Democrat. http://ehabatallaforcongress.com/
  • Adam Nick is an independent candidate. He wrote in his candidate’s statement that “After years of failed leadership, voters now much deserve and must have a member of Congress who stands up for them.” http://adamnickforcongress.com/ (His website is not working so click here to read his candidate’s statement).

You have to give an edge to Vasquez as the 46th Congressional District is heavily Hispanic.  However Atalla has money and he is a Democrat.  Wouldn’t that be something if the finalists were both Democrats?

Nick’s campaign is rather sketchy as he doesn’t even have a Facebook Page or a functioning website.

Cullum seems like a nice fellow but he is quite clearly running in the wrong district.  His P.O. Box is in Atwood, a small neighborhood in Placentia, a city that is not in the 46th Congressional District.  It should be noted that Cullum also ran for this district in 2012, when he got just over 5,000 votes, according to Smart Voter.
