SANTA ANA, Calif. (June 12, 2024)—Santa Ana Police Detectives have arrested a 27-year-old male suspect for a fatal shooting that occurred on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. You can view a video from their P.R. officer about the arrest here.

On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at approximately 12:17 p.m., Santa Ana Police Communications received a report of a shooting in the area of 900 W. Bishop Street.

Officers arrived at the scene and found a 13-year-old male victim lying on the ground near the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper torso.

Shortly afterward, a 16-year-old male victim was discovered inside a nearby residence, also with a gunshot wound to his upper torso.

A third juvenile victim, age 13, was located near the scene but unharmed.

Orange County Fire Authority provided medical treatment to the injured victims and transported them to local hospitals. The suspect had fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.

On June 7, 2024, the 13-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. The surviving 16-year-old victim remains in critical but stable condition.

SAPD Homicide Detectives assumed the investigation and identified the suspect as 27-year-old Raymond Mario Jimenez of Santa Ana.

On Friday, June 7, 2024, Jimenez was arrested and booked at the Santa Ana Jail for Penal Code § 187(a) – Murder, Penal Code § 664(a) 187(a) – Attempt Murder, and Penal Code § 246 – Shooting into an Inhabited Dwelling. He will be arraigned in Orange County Superior Court on July 10, 2024, and remains in custody without bail.
