Early this morning, an Irvine Police Department officer contacted an adult male riding a bike who was holding another bike next to him.

The male had outstanding warrants for burglary and said that he had “borrowed” the extra bike from a friend.

The male was arrested for the warrants and the bike was taken to IPD for safekeeping.

While the suspect was being booked, the owner of the bike came to IPD to report his bicycle was stolen from his garage.

He never gave anyone permission to “borrow” it and did not know the man who had it.

The victim provided video of the thief and it matched the male in custody.

Additional charges of residential burglary were added to the arrest.

This is what the Irvine Police Department calls “a full circle moment…”
