The Costa Mesa police arrested a man who stole a dirt bike when he set off an alarm

What happens when you play hide and seek with police officers? A suspect recently found out, according to the Costa Mesa Police Department.

A Costa Mesa police officer was in the area of Superior Avenue when an audible burglary alarm went off at around 3:30 a.m. at a business in the 1500 block of Superior.

As the officer approached, he saw the man notice the police vehicle right before he bolted from the scene.

After a brief foot pursuit a perimeter was set up. A drone was requested and helped to locate the suspect near a perimeter officer.

The officers were able to close in on the suspect and arrested him.

Turns out, the suspect had stolen a dirt bike that had sentimental value.

The occiers were glad that they were able to return the dirt bike to the victim.
