Mater Dei High School language teacher Marcos Corona has passed away

Mater Dei High School Teacher Marcos Corona passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on August 21, 2024.

Mater Dei High School posted that Corona was “a deeply faithful man, a dedicated teacher, a friend to all on campus, and most importantly a loving husband and father. Outside the classroom, he had a passion for reading, the Classics, opera, and cycling (often riding his bike into work each day). Marcos truly loved being a teacher and often took the time to support his students at their games and performances.”

Marcos was a devoted husband to Nancy, a loving father to Mia (17) and Alessandro (11), a dedicated teacher to his students and a dear friend to so many, according to a GoFundMe page set up to provide Funeral and memorial expenses and daily living costs to assist his wife Nancy in managing household expenses, groceries, and bills during this transitional period. The GoFundMe page has already raised over $16K.

Corona worked in the World Languages Department at Mater Dei High School. He graduated from UCI, according to his Linkedin page.

Mater Dei High School’s Counseling, Campus Ministry, and Health Services Offices are available for students who need support as they grieve his passing.
