ORANGE COUNTY STUDENTS INVITED TO ENTER AVIATION ART CONTEST

John Wayne Airport Announces its 24th Annual Student Art Contest

SANTA ANA, Calif. – John Wayne Airport’s 24th annual Student Art Contest is now underway. All Orange County public and private school students in grades K-12 are encouraged to submit artwork inspired by this year’s theme: “Flying Saves Lives.”  Entries should be submitted to the Orange County Department of Education, any Orange County Public Library Branch or participating city libraries listed below, no later than 4 p.m., Tuesday, November 5, 2013.

The John Wayne Airport (JWA) Student Art Contest is part of the International Aviation Art Contest. JWA winning entries go on to compete at State, National and often International levels of competition.

Artworks that best depict this year’s contest theme are selected for exhibition and prizes. Winners and honorable mentions from grades Kindergarten through 12th will be exhibited from December 10, 2013 through January 15, 2014, on the arrival level, adjacent to Baggage Carousels 1 and 4, of the Thomas F. Riley Terminal.

Each entrant will receive a certificate of participation from the Airport, and select winners will be awarded prizes donated by sponsors including the Ballet Festival Theater, Boomers and SpeedZone, The Children’s Museum La Habra, Irvine Museum, Disneyland Resort, ExplorOcean, GoKart World, JWA McDonald’s, Knott’s Berry Farm, Laguna Art Museum, Laguna College of Art and Design, Legoland California and Orange County Pacific Symphony.

Interested students can pick up materials at any Orange County Public Library or any city library branch in Anaheim, Buena Park, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Mission Viejo, Newport Beach, Placentia, Santa Ana and Yorba Linda.
