ANAHEIM, Calif. (September 15, 2025) – An officer-involved shooting occurred after police responded to a suspicious subject call for service.

On September 15, 2025, at approximately 12:45 p.m., an Anaheim Police officer responded to the area of W. Holly St. and N. Falmouth Ave. regarding a person who was acting suspiciously, possibly under the influence of drugs, and carrying a brick.

Updated information in the call indicated the person also had a shovel. When the officer arrived and encountered the subject, an officer-involved shooting occurred.

The subject was struck by gunfire, at which point the officer began to render first aid.

The subject was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased approximately 30 minutes after arrival. A shovel was recovered at the scene. The officer was not injured during this incident.

The identity of the subject is unknown, pending confirmation by the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner’s office. He is believed to be a male adult, approximately 30 years old.

The incident occurred in front of John Marshall Elementary School. Class was in session, and none of the students were exposed to the shooting. The school was placed on lockdown temporarily, and parents were advised of an alternate location to pick up their children.

The officer’s discharge of a firearm prompted a response from the Orange County District Attorney’s office, Anaheim PD Homicide Detectives, the Anaheim PD Major Incident Review Team (MIRT), and Anaheim PD Internal Affairs for a complete and transparent investigation.

Additional details cannot be released at this time due to the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call the Anaheim Police Department or Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS.
