On Friday morning, a police officer spotted a vehicle driving eastbound in the westbound lanes of Alton near East Yale Loop. When the officer tried to stop the car, the driver did not stop, according to the Irvine Police Department.

Police officers pursued the vehicle to a Foothill Ranch neighborhood, where the driver was blocked in and stopped.

An open, cold beer was found in the vehicle’s cup holder, and several empty beer cans were on the passenger floor.

Christopher Mark Ritchie, 58, of Irvine, was booked at Orange County Jail on multiple charges, including DUI, evading a police officer, and driving on a suspended license.
