Santa Ana Ward 5 City Council candidate Juan Villegas, a law enforcement officer with 25 years of experience fighting crime, is hosting the kick-off to his campaign on Wednesday, Sep. 7, 2016, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Santa Ana Police Officer Association Hall, located at 1607 N. Sycamore, in Santa Ana.
Villegas is running against an incumbent, Councilman Roman Reyna, who recently voted against hiring more police officers despite the huge increase in violent crime over the past three years. Reyna’s brother reportedly died in prison and Reyna himself has admitted to being shot and wounded at a park when he was younger. When Reyna ran for Mayor of Santa Ana he was caught posing with members of the Mexican Mafia, in a picture that was widely circulated on social media. He refused to explain why he was hanging out with these individuals.
To RSVP for Villegas’ event call Cynthia at 714-478-3797 or send an email to juan@juanvillegas.com.
Here is Villegas’ bio:
As an Orange County Law Enforcement Officer for the past 26 years, Educator, and Santa Ana resident, I have personally seen the alarming rise of gang related crime, homelessness and the decline of Santa Ana’s infrastructure over the last four years. It is time to change Santa Ana’s leadership, so together we can bring back community policing and work on long-term solutions to end homelessness and revitalize business.
As a Parent I understand the concerns we have for our kids, which is my motivation to work tirelessly on behalf of you and your children. As a Sheriff Officer and a U.S. Army Veteran I have developed a deep perspective on working with mental health issues, public safety, and listening to the needs of the community. I authored a parenting book (Life Has Values) regarding delinquency prevention which is currently used in the Santa Ana Police Parenting Academy.
Working hand-and-hand with Business and Public Safety, will strengthen the economic infra-structure and make the neighborhoods, safe again leading to a stronger Santa Ana. My commitment is to serve our city faithfully, with transparency and integrity.
It’s great to see that we have a legitimate candidate stepping up and taking on Roman Reyna. Reyna is an uneducated, underemployed glorified camp counselor overseeing one of the largest cities in California and huge budget. Do you really think he has been he intellectual capacity for the job?
Special interests group and lobbyists just love Roman. They know that given his lack of real world knowledge and experience along with his slim educational background he can be led around and directed to do what’s best for them and not the residents of Santa Ana.
Also, we must not forget that Roman’s mentor, Mario Rodriguez, was just hired by Donald Trump as an advisor to his campaign. Birds of a feather people!
It’s time to send Roman packing. He’s in over his head and the residents of Santa Ana are paying the price for his ineptness.
If I need someone to oversee a dodgeball game Roman’s my first choice, but when it comes to a city council seat it’s best that we leave that to the educated adults. Santa Ana must elect Juan Villegas in November.
Amen!
