On November 13th, the SAPD received multiple reports about a social media post showing a disturbing animal abuse incident.

The video shows a man restraining his dog by the snout and collar before punching it with a closed fist in the throat.

Over the weekend, SAPD officers conducted an investigation into the alleged abuse and determined that the man and the dog lived in Santa Ana.

Yesterday, SAPD officers, along with our Animal Control Unit, conducted follow-up, and the pit bull/Great Dane mix, Sasha, was safely taken to the OC Animal Shelter.

The owner was cited, and the incident remains under investigation.

The SAPD appreciates the community’s vigilance and partnership in protecting Sasha, and the well-being of our animals!
