The SAPD is searching for a hit and run driver who fatally struck a pedestrian in Santa Ana today

SANTA ANA, CA (October 20, 2024) – A 31-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle that fled the scene, according to the SAPD.

On October 20, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Santa Ana Police Department received a call regarding a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the area of Bristol Street and Park Lane.

Officers, along with Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), responded to the scene and located a man in the roadway with significant injuries. Despite life-saving measures, OCFA pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene.

Based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed that the pedestrian was walking across Bristol St. in an unknown direction when he was struck by a suspect vehicle traveling southbound on Bristol St., just south of Park Lane.

That vehicle immediately fled the scene. After the collision, another vehicle drove over the downed pedestrian.

The second driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

The Orange County Coroner’s Office identified the decedent as Ralph Marin, 31, of Santa Ana.

The Santa Ana Police Department’s Collision Investigations Unit (CIU) is investigating this incident. Anyone with information about this collision and the hit-and-run suspect is asked to contact Detective Corporal Carrillo at (714) 245-8208 or the Santa Ana Police Department’s Traffic Division at (714) 245-8200.
