In response to an increase in gang related activity, SAPD Gang Unit Detectives and OC Probation officers conducted a probation check in the area of 1000 S. Newhope Street yesterday, just south of the Fitz Intermediate Computer Science Academy.

Contact was made with three subjects, and one of them attempted to conceal a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun.

All three subjects were detained and ultimately arrested.

Two of the subjects were on felony probation for firearm violations and the other was found to be in possession of narcotic paraphernalia
