Due to the increase of reckless driving across Southern California, the Garden Grove Police Department has taken a zero-tolerance approach by staffing additional officers to conduct high-visibility enforcement of street racing/takeovers.

As of September, their efforts have resulted in a total of:

  • Citations: 823
  • Citations (Excessive/Loud Exhaust): 273
  • Impounded/Stored Vehicles: 28
  • DUI Arrests: 9
  • Street Racing Arrests: 5

To date, Garden Grove has seen a 79% decrease in fatal collisions, from 2021. This decrease is due to the ongoing education and enforcement from the Accident Reduction Team (ART), in partnership with the California Office of Traffic Safety.

Don’t drive recklessly/street race, especially in Garden Grove. These activities are dangerous and illegal. The Garden Grove Police Department will continue collaborating with the county-wide street racing task force and deploy additional officers as needed.
