Great Park Wins Two Outstanding Achievement Awards from Interactive Media Council

IRVINE – The Orange County Great Park Corporation today announced that the www.ocgp.org site received two Outstanding Achievement Awards from the Interactive Media Council. The awards, in the Community and Government website categories, honor individuals and organizations for their outstanding achievement for the highest standards of excellence in website design and development.

The Great Park website was reviewed among hundreds of applications for these national awards. Great Park employee Jason Dyer is the primary architect and manager of the Park’s web presence.

‘We applaud Jason for virtually welcoming thousands of visitors to the Great Park through our website,” said Mike Ellzey, CEO, Orange County Great Park Corporation. “His efforts present the Park in an engaging and advanced way that befits the Great Park.”

The Interactive Media Council is a nonprofit organization made up of industry-leading marketing and interactive media executives, developers, designers and other new media professionals. The competition is designed to elevate the standards of excellence on the Internet. The award criterion is based on design, content, feature functionality, usability, standards compliance and cross-browser compatibility. Judges included professionals from American Express, CNNmoney, FOOD Network, Microsoft, OgilvyOne, Time Warner and Verizon.

About the Great Park

The Orange County Great Park, with its 1,347-acre master plan, is the focal point of the redevelopment of the publicly-owned portion of the 4,700-acre former Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro. The Great Park is currently nearly 60 acres and includes an iconic tethered helium balloon that rises 400 feet in the air, providing an aerial view of Park development. A $70 million development plan to expand the Park to more than 200 acres is currently underway, building on a core section of the Park for the most immediate and wide-ranging public benefit. The Great Park Farm, Palm Court Arts Complex, North Lawn recreation area and other features are already complete, and the South Lawn soccer fields and Community Garden will be complete in 2012.
