A team of police officers conducted extra traffic enforcement in Irvine last night to address ongoing vehicle noise complaints and street racing concerns, according to the Irvine Police Department.

The IPD fields these details often and frequently partners with agencies across the OC to stop dangerous driving and street takeovers. Police officers issued 13 citations, primarily for loud exhaust.

On Thursday, the Traffic Bureau conducted High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) on Culver between the I-5 and I-405.

Traffic officers issued 26 citations during the operation and found that cell phone use was among the most frequent violations.

As a reminder, California Vehicle Code, Section 23123(a) states, “A person shall not drive a motor vehicle while using a wireless telephone unless that telephone is specifically designed and configured to allow hands-free listening and talking, and is used in that manner while driving.”
