Last night, at around 5:30 p.m., the Anaheim Police received an anonymous call reporting a large group involved in graffiti in the 300 block of S. Claudina Avenue.

Patrol officers, Gang Unit investigators, and Air Support immediately responded to the scene.

The APD Gang Unit investigators arrived quickly and observed one of the individuals holding a handgun. That suspect fled on foot and then discarded the firearm during the pursuit.

With coordinated assistance from Air Support and patrol officers, the suspect was quickly taken into custody without incident, and the gun was recovered.

The suspect was identified as a 20-year-old Anaheim resident who was on probation. He was booked on multiple felony weapons charges.

Thanks to the community member who made the initial call, coupled with the outstanding teamwork by our officers, a safe arrest was made, and another dangerous weapon was removed from the streets. This is a true example of how community cooperation helps keep Anaheim safe!
