January 2017 was another violent month in Santa Ana with a total of 27 shooting incidents which resulted in 2 deaths. That includes the SAPD shooting incident on Jan 29. There was also one fatal stabbing incident and one Pedestrian/Vehicle incident which resulted in a death.

All of these reported incidents have been placed on a map to keep track of the violent crime incidents in our city, which can be found here.

2017 is on track to be as violent as 2016 was in Santa Ana with over 800 reported violent crimes for the first six months of 2016. Even the FBI agrees that we are headed for another awful year.

We have a new City Council majority and a capable acting City Manager. It is clearly time for a new Police Chief too!

  1. How do we compare with shootings from this time last year? Hopefully, we are not faring worse, but we should probably ask that question…
