Yenny Alejandra Barrerasilva and Nidia Montenegro Bolanos arrested by the Irvine Police

On Saturday, a victim had her cell phone taken from her purse while shopping at Brandy Melville, according to the Irvine Police Department.

The IPD Spectrum officers teamed up with the IPD Directed Patrol officers to form “Voltron.”

After reviewing surveillance, they identified two suspects and found their vehicle in the parking lot.

When the suspects returned to their car, they were greeted by the combined team of IPD police officers.

Inside their vehicle, officers recovered the victim’s phone, multiple other stolen phones, and a stolen wallet with credit cards inside.

The investigation revealed the duo stole the victim’s property through distraction and pickpocket techniques.

Nidia Montenegro Bolanos, 42, of Rancho Cucamonga, and Yenny Alejandra Barrerasilva, 31, of Upland, were arrested and booked at Orange County Jail on conspiracy, burglary, and stolen property charges.

Both Rancho Cucamonga and Upland are in San Bernardino County.
