Burglary suspects wanted in Westminster

The Westminster Police have released pictures of a thieving pair involved in a burglary, with the hope of identifying them.

The suspects are a man and woman who appear to be Hispanic. The man has a slim build. He was wearing blue jeans and a long-sleeved gray shirt with a zippered collar. He was also wearing a tan baseball cap with a white “Los Angeles” logo. The woman was wearing blue jeans and a black long-sleeved top. She has blond hair pulled back in a bun at the nape of her neck.

The suspects were apparently driving a small gray four-door car. Google Images identified the car as a 2012-2014 Toyota Prius.

In California, burglary is defined under Penal Code Section 459 as entering a structure with the intent to commit theft or any felony. The penalties for burglary vary depending on whether it is classified as first-degree or second-degree burglary:

First-Degree Burglary

  • Definition: Involves entering an inhabited dwelling (residential burglary).
  • Penalties:
    • Felony probation
    • 2, 4, or 6 years in state prison
    • Fine up to $10,000

Second-Degree Burglary

  • Definition: Involves entering a non-residential structure (commercial burglary).
  • Penalties:
    • Misdemeanor: Up to 1 year in county jail
    • Felony: 16 months, 2 years, or 3 years in county jail
