On Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 1:05 AM, Santa Ana Police Communications received a report of a shooting inside the Proof Bar & Lounge located at 215 N. Broadway.
Officers responded and located an adult female, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to her upper torso.
Officers rendered medical aid until the arrival of Orange County Fire Authority who transported her to a local hospital where she is listed in stable condition.
Witnesses provided a description of the suspect. Responding officers located an adult male matching the suspect description in the area of 5th Street/Sycamore Avenue and detained him without incident. A firearm was recovered.
Homicide detectives interviewed the suspect, Armando Alvarez (22) from Santa Ana, who was subsequently booked into the Santa Ana Jail for Attempted Murder.
The circumstances and motive surrounding this shooting are currently being investigated. Detectives are attempting to identify and locate any witnesses who can shed additional light on this incident.
