This year’s Santa Ana 4th of July event is shaping up to be a lot of fun – it will apparently be a two-day event with lots of entertainment.

A friend of mine recently spoke to Santa Ana Parks and Rec Director Gerardo Mouet, who is in the running to replace retired City Manager Dave Ream, about this event.  Mouet reported that the event will take place at Centennial Park, on July 2 and 3.  There will be a carnival and the event will feature a fireworks show on July 3.

The vendor who is handling the carnival is apparently going to produce the fireworks show – and the cost for the event is largely going to be handled by the vendor.

It surely does not look like the Minutemen will be taking over this event this year, unlike last year.  However a few embittered Republican residents who are friendly with the Minutemen have been posting about the event’s planning meeting that was held last night, over at the Santa Ana Citizen’s Yahoogroup. They were afraid that local indigenous rights activist Naui was going to show up at the meeting.  I am not sure that he did but will post any video he might have shot if he did show up at the meeting last night.

I know that Mouet was embarrassed by the bad press when the Minutemen took over last year’s event.  We can only hope that he will keep them at bay.  Remember that local Minuteman Lupe Moreno imported her Minuteman allies from as far away as Yorba Linda at last year’s 4th of July event.  That must never be allowed to happen again!

  1. I’m glad that finally the City is doing something for the 4th of July, is time that they start thinking that this is the United States of America (USA) NOT MEXICO, celebrating their Independence only.
As for Mr. Mouet, I hope he continue in his position as Park Director he is good at that.

  2. Centennial Park, guess that will leave the Civic Center free for one on those tea-bagger things, mmmm are the tea baggers coming out for Monday the 18th?

  3. This is the Republic of Nuevo Santana. Generalisimo Pedroza! Muy Progressive! “Eco-Friendly, sin racism!”

  4. “They were afraid that local indigenous rights activist Naui was going to show up at the meeting.”

I posted that comment – no one was “afraid” that Naui was going to show up at the meeting. The comment was posted as a joke – just like Naui.

  5. I hate to be negative because I love this city but I sincerely hope that there will be a huge police presence at this event. I would really hate for there to be any violence at this event to further fuel the rest of the country’s hatred. All it would take is a few gangbangers to ruin everything for everyone. With that said, I hope the event is a smashing success.

  6. Iceland voted today to reject debt payments to the U.K. and other Euro nations. F corporate banking slavery! F the system! Viva la Independencia. they should pay us! Stupid corrupt repressive reactive machines. They get paid to steal the lives of innocence! And you thought human nature was to be put on a pedestal? Why are Native Americans images placed on the coins? “Society” celebrates what is “Godly” and “Iconic” that which it guilty of destroying! Civility is Insincerity! Viva the Shamans! The Shamans will have their Revenge!

  7. This city and Country needs a fire cracker lit up it’s ass. Don’t wait till fourth of the July Slaves! Do something.
