A 20-year-old Santa Ana gangbanger was driving 69 mph in a 30 mph zone today, at 3:07 p.m., at 5th and North Jackson Streets, when an SAPD motorcyle officer tried to pull him over, according to the O.C. Register.
Most folks would pull over – but not this gangbanger. He sped off and led the police on a short car chase.
The suspect eventually became trapped in a neighborhood, so of course he put the car in reverse and tried to run over the motorcycle officer.
The SAPD reported that the suspect looked at the police officer then put his car in reverse. Fortunately the officer was on a motorcycle so he was easily able to avoid the car.
The suspect then took off in his car to the 300 block of North Gunther St. He is not considered a murder suspect. The police reported that there was information that he might have been involved in a murder however that information proved to not be true.
The police believed that the suspect was hiding in his home on Gunther Street. They tried to talk him into leaving the home and turning himself in.
When the suspect did not materialize the SAPD called off the search, just before 6 pm.
The search was called off shortly before 6 p.m.
The suspect will likely be charged with suspicion of sideswiping cars, assault with a deadly weapon and felony evading police.
At the end of the commotion, the suspect’s car was towed.
This incident happened in Santa Ana’s Ward 5, which is represented by Councilman Roman Reyna.
