Community: Mayor Pulido Honors Gene Howard, Executive Director of the Orange County Alliance for Children and Families

Mayor Miguel Pulido will present Gene Howard, Executive Director of the Orange County Alliance for Children and Families, with the Exceptional Citizen Award for his outstanding service to the City of Santa Ana at Tuesday’s City Council Meeting.

The Orange County Alliance for Children and Families is a consortium of 15 social service organizations committed to improving the lives of at-risk children and their families. As the Executive Director of the Alliance, Mr. Howard has been a strong advocate for vulnerable children and families in Santa Ana and across all of Orange County.

Howard’s passion for serving spans over four decades, working in the area of abused and foster children in both the government and non-profit sectors. His previous roles have involved leading the Child Protective Services Departments for the State of Arizona and Orange County California, serving as the CEO of the Orangewood Children’s Foundation for 15 years, and as the CEO of the Court Appointed Special Advocates of Orange County. Among his many contributions to the City of Santa Ana, Mr. Howard has been instrumental in the development of a specialized program for victims of sexual abuse. He has also been actively involved with the development and advancement of Family Resource Centers, which provide on-site access to comprehensive prevention and treatment services.
