OCDA TO HOST INFORMATIONAL BOOTH AT 33RD ANNUAL FIESTAS PATRIAS MEXICAN INDEPENDENCE DAY FESTIVITIES

SANTA ANA – The Orange County District Attorney’s (OCDA) Office is proud to participate in the 33rd Annual Fiestas Patrias Mexican Independence Day Festivities this Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, starting at 12:00 p.m. This weekend festival, which hosts over 200,000 people each year, will be held in Downtown Santa Ana on 4th Street, between Broadway Street and Minter Street.

The festival celebrates Father Miguel Hidalgo’s call for Mexico’s independence from Spain, “El Grito”, and will feature entertainment, games and prizes, food, art and culture vendors, and exhibitors from local businesses, government, and law enforcement agencies.

In order to encourage community participation in law enforcement and community awareness regarding public safety, the OCDA Government and Community Relations Unit will host booth 65 and will be speaking with visitors and handing out information in English and Spanish. The resource materials will cover information regarding victim resources, crime prevention, the criminal justice system, domestic violence, fraud, and identity theft. The booth will open at 10:00 a.m. and be located on 4th Street, between Main Street and Bust Street.

The OCDA booth is sponsored by Jose Romo.
