SANTA ANA, Calif. (February 8, 2021) – The Orange County (OC) Board of Supervisors, in partnership with the Orange County Workforce Development Board, is taking the OC One-Stop Center to the streets. The OC One-Stop Mobile Unit (Mobile Unit) will provide access to education and training services traditionally offered by the OC One-Stop Center for youth, adults, dislocated workers, and businesses while reducing transmission and preparing the workforce for post-COVID-19 return.

“The Garden Grove One-Stop Center offers comprehensive workforce services to all residents in Orange County, whether it’s businesses needing employees with specific skill sets or individuals searching for jobs,” said Chairman Andrew Do, First District Supervisor. “The OC One-Stop Mobile Unit will take these services to residents who may not have the time or means to commute.”

With a fully accessible 12-station state-of-the-art computer lab, the OC One-Stop Mobile Unit will offer a wide array of workforce solutions for businesses and individuals by appointment like the OC One-Stop Center in Garden Grove. Services range from career training, local hiring events, Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) program enrollment, education assessments, career interest inventory, case management, labor market information, access to support services, community partner referrals, and more.

“Residents who have not visited our OC One-Stop Center are encouraged to take advantage of the Mobile Unit,” said Vice Chairman Doug Chaffee, Fourth District Supervisor. “The OC One-Stop Mobile Unit will offer an array of services to help residents with what they need to be successful in their job or business.”

Businesses specifically may use the Mobile Unit for recruiting, pre-employment screening, interviewing, and training, while prospective employees will be served through various job search and career development activities such as online job searches, resume and cover letter development, on-line tutorials and individual assessments, and exploration of training eligibility and options.

“It is an honor to provide residents with the proper tools that will empower them to achieve the power of a paycheck,” said Supervisor Donald Wagner, Third District. “The OC One-Stop Mobile Unit will help people to explore employment options; we hope they find a brighter future as they enter the workforce.”

The OC One-Stop Mobile Unit will also serve as a training room to educate the public on general health, safety, and workforce and career development. Safety procedures will be in place for guests in response to COVID-19. This includes staff and guests wearing a mask or face covering in the unit, prescreening guests before entering with a temperature check and questionnaire, operating by appointment only to ensure social distancing, and cleaning the Mobile Unit in between appointments and every evening.

“The OC One-Stop Mobile Unit will enable employers and job seekers in South County to have more convenient access to employment opportunities and services,” said Supervisor Lisa Bartlett, Fifth District. “Launching the Mobile Unit will give residents as far south as San Clemente more flexibility to take advantage of the services provided by the traditional OC One-Stop Center located in Garden Grove.”

For more information on the OC One-Stop Mobile Unit including how to book an appointment, visit the Orange County One-Stop Center website or call the Economic and Business Recovery Call Center at (714) 480-6500.
