Loretta Sanchez

The liberal political organization Moveon.org is targeting Orange County’s only Democratic Congresswoman, Loretta Sanchez, with a protest at her office in Garden Grove on Thursday, February 20, 2014.

What are these liberals upset about? Apparently Sanchez is not supporting revisions to the Voting Rights Act.

Today Representatives Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI) and John Conyers (D-MI) and Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT) introduced legislation to strengthen the Voting Rights Act of 1965 in the wake of the Supreme Court’s decision last June invalidating a critical section of the VRA. The legislation, known as “The Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2014,” represents the first attempt by a bipartisan group in Congress to reinstate the vital protections of the VRA that the Supreme Court took away, according to The Nation.

Why Sanchez wouldn’t sign on to this is a mystery given that she represents a district that saw perhaps one of the worst examples of messing with voter rights when the OC GOP and Curt Pringle, who was running for an Assembly seat, posted uniformed security guards at polling stations in Santa Ana, in 1988.

Of course Sanchez backed Pringle’s mini-me, Jordan Brandman, for the Anaheim City Council in 2012 so perhaps she doesn’t want to upset Pringle by signing on to the Voting Rights Act reforms.

Rep. Sanchez’s office is located at:

12397 Lewis Street
Garden Grove, CA 92840

  1. Since this will not affect California voters, only a couple of east coast states, maybe she thinks it would be a waste of her time.

    1. It could affect her party’s attempt to hang on to the Senate majority in the mid-term elections.

We just think it is funny that the liberals are targeting Sanchez.
