A manipulative 37-year-old-man coerced elderly Orange County residents who displayed home security signs outside of their homes into believing he was a Brinks home security employee, entrusting him access into their homes where he is accused of stealing jewelry, credit cards, credit card information and other valuable items, according to the OCDA.

Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Anaheim Police Department at a news conference in Carson today to announce the arrest and charges against Jacinto Chavez.

The suspected serial burglar faces five felony counts of first-degree burglary and five misdemeanor counts of theft from an elder adult exceeding $950. If convicted on all counts, Jacinto Chavez faces a maximum sentence of 11 years and four months in state prison.

Orange County prosecutors will be seeking the maximum sentence.

Authorities believe there are additional victims in Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties. Please call Anaheim burglary detectives at (714) 328-8153 or Orange County Crime Stoppers at (855) TIP-OCCS if you recognize Chavez and think you may be a victim.
