High-Speed Rail Authority to Host Small Business Certification Workshop In Orange County

SACRAMENTO, CA – In his continued outreach and assistance to small businesses, Senator Lou Correa (D-Santa Ana) announced that the California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) will host a series of statewide workshops to help certify small businesses that want to participate in the statewide high-speed rail project. The Authority will provide small businesses with hands-on technical assistance which includes on-the-spot certification that can be completed online. Participants will also receive pertinent information on upcoming procurement opportunities around the state that would be of interest to their businesses.

“Many contracts will be long-term and will be a big boost economically for small businesses. Construction in Anaheim will bring an estimated 92,000 full-time jobs; and, upon completion, thousands of permanent jobs will remain statewide,” said Correa. 

There are a series of workshops with the first certification workshops in Orange County being held:

The workshop is RSVP-only and limited to non-certified small business that meet the California Department of General Services (DGS) eligibility criteria to be certified. Specifically, that means that DGS must certify them as a Small Business (SB), Microbusiness (MB) or Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) for the State of California in order for their participation to count toward the 30 percent goal.

Workshop participants should bring the following materials with them to the workshop:

• Applicant/Affiliate Federal Tax Returns for the past three (3) years
• Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) (if applicable)
• Secretary of State Number (if applicable)
• Home address of Officers, Member/Manager and Partners
• Social Security Number (if sole proprietor)
• Dunn & Bradstreet Number (if applicable)
• Contractors State License Board Number (if applicable)

About California High-Speed Rail Authority

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) is responsible for planning, designing, building and operation of the first high-speed rail system in the nation. By 2029, the system will run from San Francisco to the Los Angeles basin in under three hours at speeds capable of over 200 miles per hour. The system will eventually extend to Sacramento and San Diego, totaling 800 miles with up to 24 stations. In addition, the Authority is working with regional partners to implement a statewide rail modernization plan that will invest billions of dollars in local and regional rail lines to meet the state’s 21st century transportation needs.
