An unidentified 23-year-old woman was apparently stabbed by her estranged husband Thursday after they argued following her filing for divorce, according to the O.C. Register.

SAPD police officers responded at around 3 p.m. on Thursday after the woman showed up at a local hospital with wounds in her stomach.

The victim did not call the police when she was stabbed so the time of the original assault is not known. However she eventually told the police that she had been assaulted by her estranged husband after they had argued about the divorce filing.

The attacker later told his mother that he was fleeing to Mexico with the couple’s six-year-old son.

The parents have joint custody of the child so the police are not considering the husband’s actions to be a child abduction.

The victim has minor injuries and authorities say that she will survive. Her husband and son could not be found as of this morning.

The SAPD did not identify the names of the couple or their child.
