The SAPD has received information that Cary Jay Smith is currently located at a healthcare center in Santa Ana, according to the SAPD’s Facebook page.
The Santa Ana Police Department is committed to public safety and will continue to monitor the situation and collaborate with our law enforcement partners and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
The OCDA recently released a warning about Smith, who spent 20 years in forced hospitalization at a state mental hospital.
Smith, who is 59-years-old, was sent to Patton State Hospital in San Bernardino in 1999 on a 72-hour psychiatric hold after his wife provided a psychiatrist with a letter in which Smith described sex acts he wanted to perform on a 7-year-old boy who lived in his Costa Mesa neighborhood.

It is really quite simple…. he is not on parole or probation, and as such can do as he pleases. He is not “being moved” anywhere by anyone.

Yeah he moved from Orange San Diego county a motel in lake Elsinore but angry crowd went to the motel and demanded to sheriffs they hand him over to them. So he moved to Santa Ana now.
