Costa Mesa man arrested for the suspected murder of a female friend

COSTA MESA, Calif. (Oct. 22, 2024) – The Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) tonight arrested Daniel Allen Aldrich for the suspected murder of the murder of his girlfriend, Julie Anne Sanetra, Irvine, a 38-year-old woman.

On Oct. 22, 2024, at approximately 2:27p.m., the Communications Center received a call about a deceased woman found in the backyard of a home located in the 1900 block of Maple Avenue.

Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue and CMPD responded to the scene. When officers arrived, they found Sanetra deceased and immediately began an investigation. Sanetra’s friend, Aldrich, was identified as a suspect and located in Glendale. Costa Mesa detectives traveled to Glendale and arrested the suspect.

The identity of the victim will not be released pending next of kin notification. In order to further protect the identity of the victim, CMPD will delay releasing the identity of the suspect. When appropriate, CMPD will update the public on the identities.
