Armed felon from Hemet arrested after a traffic stop in Irvine

On Thursday night, a police officer stopped a vehicle near Red Hill and Mac Arthur after observing multiple traffic violations, according to the Irvine Police Department.

The driver had a felony warrant out of San Bernardino for his arrest. A loaded, unserialized handgun was found in his vehicle’s center console.

Thomas Richard Kohler, 29, of Hemet, was arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm and other charges. Hemet is a city in the San Jacinto Valley in Riverside County, California.

Kohler was booked at the Orange County Jail.
