On October 3, 2023, at approximately 1:47 p.m., Fountain Valley Police Department officers responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Brookhurst St. and Edinger Ave.

A white Chevrolet bus was stopped southbound of Brookhurst St. at Edinger Ave. When the light turned green, the vehicle proceeded southbound when it struck walking westbound on Edinger Ave. in the north curbline crosswalk.

The pedestrian was a 57-year-old male resident of Santa Ana. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity will be released pending notification of his family b the O.C. Coroner.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision at this time however the investigation is ongoing. Any witnesses to the collision are encouraged to contact the Fountain Valley Police Department’s Traffic Bureau at 714-593-4481. The incident file number is #23-34358.
