Santa Ana – A little boy was swept away and traveled approximately half a mile down the Santa Ana River Bed on Sunday afternoon when he got too close to the water’s edge. The child’s father went into the water to get him but was unable to. Fortunately, a bystander saw the child.

The call came in at 2:05 pm. They were found in the area of Fairview St. and the Santa Ana River Bed.

A Swift Water Rescue response was launched, but fortunately the three made it out. The boy was assessed and treated by our firefighter paramedics and escorted to the hospital in stable condition.

While we have a break from the rain, there is or may still be water flowing in waterways throughout Orange County. The OCFA strongly recommends that everyone stay clear. It doesn’t take a lot of water to wash people downriver where there are many dangerous hazards.
