On Saturday, May 20, at 11:50 p.m., Fountain Valley police officers responded to the scene of a traffic collision at Bushard St. and Swift Avenue.

During a preliminary investigation, the officers determined that a silver 2005 Infiniti FX35 was traveling north on Bushard St. when it crossed into the southbound lanes. This resulted in a head on collision with a black 2015 Nissan Sentra.

The passenger of the Sentra was declared deceased at the scene. The driver of the Sentra was taken to a local hospital and was in critical condition.

The identity of these victims is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

The driver of the Infiniti, a 34-year-old Hispanic from Hawaiian Gardens was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation into the collision is ongoing and alcohol or drugs may have been a factor in the collision.

Any witnesses to the collision are encouraged to contact the Fountain Valley Police Department’s Traffic Bureau at 714-593-4481. The incident number is 23-17708.
