Detectives are seeking the community’s help in identifying a suspect involved in a recent assault, according to the Santa Ana Police Department (SAPD).

On September 22, 2025, at approximately 1:10 p.m., a suspect entered a local auto repair shop, momentarily spoke to the victim, and then suddenlty struck him in the face.

The suspect then entered the passenger side of a gray, Honda Accord, and due to the tinted windows, the driver was not seen.

The victim sustained minor injuries to his eye and does not recognize the suspect or the vehicle.

The suspect is described as a male, Black, approximately 38–40 years old, about 5’04”, and last seen wearing a blue hat, white shirt, jean shorts, and black shoes.

  • Simple Assault (Penal Code §240)
    • Misdemeanor offense.
    • Up to 6 months in county jail.
    • Fine up to $1,000.
    • Possible probation, community service, or anger management classes.
  • Battery (Penal Code §242)(likely if actual physical contact occurred)
    • Misdemeanor offense.
    • Up to 6 months in county jail.
    • Fine up to $2,000.
    • May include probation and mandatory counseling.
  • Aggravating Factors
    • If injuries were more serious or a weapon was involved, charges could escalate to assault with a deadly weapon or aggravated battery, which carry longer jail terms and higher fines.
